In the first shot of the video we see a close up of Meghans face, this is to introduce the audience to the artist, especially because she is also a new artist so the audience will not have see her face before. The first few seconds are close ups of Meghans face and she is also seen in two different looks so the video is adding variety from the off. Her make up is very simple and girly using lipstick and eyeliner to draw the viewers in and focus on her. The video then cuts to a long shot and we see what Meghan is wearing and we also see her dancers which are also dressed in pastel colours and very girly. We also see a quick shot of a man dancing also in girly colours which is intriguing to the audience because they want to know what his role in the video is.
We then see more scenes of the man dancing and giving off the impression that he doesn't care and we then begin to understand that he links in with the lyrics 'all about that bass' so he is saying he is a bigger man but he doesn't care. We now beginning to understand the video as it is in relation with the lyrics, we then then see a long shot of two girls, one girls is very skinny and wearing Clingfilm which is a thing to do that's known for losing weight and the other girl is wearing colourful clothing and isn't as skinny as the other girl but is more happier and giving her attitude which is relating to the lyrics and very endearing for the audience as weight in todays society is a big subject that women worry about.
The song is very light hearted and upbeat so they want the audience to connect with it through happiness and singing along to it. The colours used throughout the video are all pastel light colours and are consistent throughout the video which also gives off that feeling of fun and being girly. The video is really simple but it is so effective with the colours and the dancing that it uses. They have used green screen throughout the video to create the pastel coloured backgrounds. They have taken a risk using really similar backgrounds as they could lose the audiences attention as there's no variety however they have added variety in what the artist is wearing and the dancers.
In one scene we see Meghan in a room with a dolls house, which connects to the lyric 'You know I won't be no stick-figure, silicone Barbie doll' so the audience are following along with the message that the song is trying to get across but also having fun
